Michael has over 30 years’ experience acting for the Boards and CEOs of some of the world’s most successful companies. With significant experience in international markets, Michael has strong commercial expertise in placing effective appointments across the oil & gas, mining & minerals, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Michael is a founding director of the company and is responsible for the international development of Gerard Daniels. He was instrumental in establishing the company’s offices across the EMEA and the Americas and retains predominant responsibility over both regions.
A firm advocate of education and not-for-profit enterprises, Michael is an Adjunct Professor in the Business School at the University of Western Australia and is a Board Member of the Telethon Kids Institute.
He holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Western Australia and is a member of the Institute of Directors in London.
Lloyd has more than 30 years’ experience in executive search and human resources consulting in key industry sectors in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the United Kingdom.
He has become a trusted advisor, having developed many long term relationships with clients, and has proven expertise in recruiting Chairs, Non-Executive Directors, Chief Executive Officers and senior level direct reports. Lloyd also has a strong career background in corporate governance assignments involving structure, strategy and board composition.
Lloyd has also been heavily involved in building capacity of Not for Profits in the community, culture and health space as part of the firm’s commitment to developing the environment in which we work.
Lloyd holds a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction) from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia; is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; a Member of the Curtin Business School Advisory Council; and the Chairman of the Western Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Alison Gaines is a member of the leadership team of Gerard Daniels, since 2006, and leads the business in the region. Her practice area focuses on board and executive appointments and providing wider governance, performance, remuneration and organisational consulting to clients across all sectors and industries.
Alison has extensive non-executive director and director experience accrued over thirty years, in the not for profits, mutuals and public sectors, higher education and professional and management education.
Alison was previously Chief Executive Officer of The Australian Law Society following a distinguished career in the public service (responsible for whole of government strategic human resource policy, the Senior Executive Service, executive remuneration, CEO employment and government boards and committees).
Alison is a Governor of The College of Law Ltd Australasia, Chairman of the Murdoch University Foundation, Vice President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (WA) andPresident of the Australian Institute of Management WA and Deputy Chair of the IDPN, a Global Club of INSEAD.
Alison holds an honorary doctorate; a Master of Arts (Public Policy) from Murdoch University; Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (hons) from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She holds a Certificate in Corporate Governance INSEAD; and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Director and the Australian Institute of Management.
Kenneth has over 15 years of experience working in the executive search sector, with the last 12 years specialised at senior levels within the Upstream and Midstream Oil & Gas sectors. The roles he has undertaken range from Board to Executive Chairman, CEO, Managing Director and General Manager, as well as a range of EVP, SVP and VP level appointments for some of the industry’s most well recognized operator companies and service providers.
Kenneth’s search experience also encompasses senior operational, commercial and functional leadership appointments for a range of upstream E&P companies, service companies, manufacturers, contractors and technology providers. These include successfully completed leadership searches covering P&L, Operations, Technology, Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Finance, HSEQ, Supply Chain, HR and IT.
Kenneth also regularly collaborates with Venture Capital and Private Equity firms to appoint key executive leadership positions within their portfolio companies.
Kenneth is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He holds a Master in Business Studies from the University of Aberdeen.
Kate has worked extensively in financial services, as well as in executive search and leadership assessment. She works across a range of executive search engagements, with a focus on the financial services, energy and infrastructure sectors and leads the Gerard Daniels’ East Coast board consulting practice.
Kate joined the search industry with Egon Zehnder in London, later working with the Rose Partnership and then with Russell Reynolds on her return to Sydney. There, she participated in a major leadership assessment project during the merger of two of Australia’s leading banks.
Earlier in her career, Kate spent 12 years in London, where she worked in structural solutions with Nations Bank Europe; in debt origination and swaps marketing with Westpac, and in syndication with the international debt issues division at Hambros. She commenced her career in Treasury with Macquarie Bank in Sydney.
With global experience in talent assessment, succession planning, and executive coaching, as well as executive search, Kate brings an international perspective and enjoys the application of rigorous assessment techniques in the search process.
Kate’s qualifications include a Master of Laws degree, University of Cambridge, UK; Bachelor of Laws, University of Sydney, Bachelor of Arts, University of Sydney; and Foundation Certificate, Academy of Executive Coaching, London.
Alex has 11 years of experience in professional recruitment and executive search within the Irish, UK and Asia Pacific markets. He holds an excellent customer service track record with a variety of enterprises from SME’s to blue chip clients within infrastructure, engineering & construction, manufacturing, mining and oil & gas industries.
Alex is known for having a creative style and a degree of thoroughness in delivering challenging assignments and targeted talent acquisition campaigns. He is also regarded as an individual who operates with a highest levels integrity, honesty and professional courtesy. This has allowed him to develop broad and trusted candidate network within the Asia Pacific region.
In his current role with Gerard Daniels, Alex recruits technical subject matter experts, general management executive leadership positions within resources companies.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Wales, Swansea.
Andrew has significant experience recruiting complex senior level assignments through executive search and advertised selection within the extractive industries. He has successfully completed mandates from Board level down to senior management and has worked across a range of functional disciplines including projects, exploration, asset management, engineering, operations, maintenance and reliability, supply chain, IT, finance, safety and assurance.
Andrew has sourced candidates internationally for owners; contractors and service companies based in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, South America and the US.
Prior to joining Gerard Daniels, Andrew specialised in executive search within the infrastructure and transportation sectors, working for some of the major international infrastructure engineering consultancies and contractors in the industry as well as large public sector organisations in the UK such as Crossrail and the Olympics.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Geography & Geology) from the University of Birmingham.
Chris is a Senior Executive Researcher who has worked across a wide range of Board and senior level roles in the UK, USA, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia. He has 9 year’s recruitment experience and today Chris’ executive search work is focused on senior-level assignments in the upstream, midstream and oil services segments of the energy industry.
His work includes successful placements of CEOs, executive directors, and global, regional and country heads. He has successfully recruited for leadership positions in the energy, petrochemical, mining, metals and manufacturing sectors.
He regularly undertakes global searches, and appoints leaders across a range of disciplines including Commercial, Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Technical, Projects, Supply Chain, HSSE, HR, and Finance. He has worked across several industry verticals
Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Keele, and a Master’s Degree in the International Relations of the Middle East from the University of Exeter.
Chris currently leads the research function for Gerard Daniels as the Head of Research for the Asia Pacific region. Given his experiences, he supports the search process in a number of industries to identify executives in both leadership and technical functions.
Prior to joining Gerard Daniels, Chris spearheaded the engineering function of the Australian branch of a global recruitment firm focusing on the mining industry as Principal Consultant. Before this, Chris spent 10 years in Japan where he was responsible for building and leading the medical device and pharmaceutical function for a boutique recruitment firm in Tokyo as well as heading the life-science practice for the Japanese branch of a well known global recruitment firm.
Chris continues his extensive work in the Asia Pacific region with broad coverage of senior executive appointments across a spectrum of sectors including resources and energy, healthcare, arts and culture, and government.
Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry (Honours) from the University of Western Australia, as well as post graduate qualifications in communications (PR major) from Edith Cowan University. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has experience as a Board member of an Arts not-for–profit organisation.
Holly brings a wealth of experience gained within the government, education, corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining Gerard Daniels, she held the position of Manager, Policy and External Relations at the Committee for Perth, an independent think tank representing the business sector within the Perth metropolitan region.
Holly began her career in the political arena which provided her with a solid foundation in policy analysis, excellent strategic stakeholder engagement skills and high level written skills.
As a member of Gerard Daniels’ international research team, Holly provides search capability across industries including oil and gas, mining, government and the corporate sector. She has delivered on projects at C-Suite, Board and senior technical levels sourced through local, national and international markets.
Holly holds a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and History from The University of Western Australia.
Ivan Zuvela joined Gerard Daniels in 2010 after working as a Senior Consultant for an Oil & Gas recruitment consultancy.
Ivan is currently responsible for sourcing candidates and recruiting across a range of disciplines by combining expert industry knowledge with rigorous and thorough executive search processes.
He has extensive executive search experience in the oil & gas and mining sectors, with specific expertise in executive and senior management, and technical specialists. Ivan has acted for leading companies with operations across Australia, South East Asia, Africa and South America.
Ivan has been recognised by clients and colleagues as someone who operates with integrity and delivers a high level of customer service.
Ivan holds a Bachelor of Tourism, with a major in Commerce Management, from Murdoch University. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
James has over twelve years’ global executive search and selection experience within the US, EMEA and Australian markets. He has successfully led and executed senior leadership assignments across a diverse range of sectors including financial services, natural resources, FMCG, real estate, healthcare and the public sector.
In addition, James has expertise in placing financial leaders, and has completed Chief Financial Officer searches throughout Australia and New Zealand. James brings to Gerard Daniels an exceptional range of international networks as well as a comprehensive knowledge of candidates within the financial and broader commercial spheres.
James holds a Bachelor of Science from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Campus, United Kingdom.
Jennifer has more than 12 years’ experience working with the CEOs of some of Australia’s largest organisations as a trusted adviser in executive search. She has substantial experience in the health, research, aged and community care, Government, membership and financial services industries as well as many years working with NFP Boards on CEO assignments.
Jennifer also brings high functional expertise to the External/Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Investor Relations space due to her background as a former political adviser to a Federal Attorney-General and a political journalist with The West Australian. Jennifer has a large network of contacts within both State and Federal political, media and Government circles and utilises these to great effect when managing external/corporate affairs roles.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Politics and History, from The University of Western Australia.
Julia has broad experience with various global management consultancy firms that specialise in organisational behaviour and people centred change. Prior to coming to Australia, she was based in London where she worked for an international executive search firm.
Previous to joining Gerard Daniels, Julia worked as a Consultant at an executive search firm in South Australia, where she was responsible for a wide range of C-suite executive search assignments both nationally and internationally.
Having grown up in South East Asia and Southern Africa, Julia brings wide international exposure and experience of working closely with blue-chip organisations to her role at Gerard Daniels. She has lived and worked in the UK, USA and Australia.
Julia holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Management from Thames Valley University, London and Advanced Coaching for Business and Development from City University, London.
Lee has an extensive background in executive search with an excellent track record of assisting Boards and executive teams with their key leadership requirement in the Asia Pacific region.
Lee has a wealth of experience across a range of industries including Healthcare, Life Sciences, Healthcare Technology, Bio Technology, Academia, Financial Services, and Professional Services. Lee has developed a reputation with his clients as someone that values relationships, clearly understands his client’s strategic objectives, has the ability to engage and attract high performing leaders, and has a great depth of knowledge of his markets and the drivers of high performing leaders.
Lee is focused on the appointment of CEO and Executive Management roles in the Healthcare and Lifesciences sectors across the Asia Pacific business.

Meghan joined Gerard Daniels after working in External Relations for an international oil and gas operator where she performed industry wide competitor intelligence and represented the company in various business development and government relations roles. She has extensive experience collaborating with various upstream teams including EHSS, Corporate Social Responsibility, Portfolio, Drilling, Exploration, Geoscience, New Ventures and Executive Management.
Meghan had the opportunity to work and travel internationally from Houston to the UK, Nigeria and Kurdistan. Prior to this, she worked in the District of Columbia for an international strategic consulting firm.
Meghan holds a B.A in International Affairs with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies from The George Washington University as well as an M.B.A. in International Business from the University of Houston.
Paul has over 10 years’ experience in executive search across the international resources sector. He has delivered highly challenging roles and travelled extensively through Australia, Indonesia, Africa and the UK.
After gaining his qualifications, Paul worked in an engineering consultancy, before joining Rio Tinto’s Technical Services division in Perth. While there he delivered several key projects in their Iron ore, diamonds and coal operations. He then joined the world’s largest slurry pump manufacturer and was responsible for the Alcoa operations in WA.
Paul has worked in a combined technical and marketing management roles for a number of engineering companies providing leading edge technology to the mining, manufacturing and power generation sectors.
Prior to joining Gerard Daniels, Paul held a marketing role with a global petrochemical company focused on the major oil & gas companies including Woodside’s LNG operations in WA, and the major gas transmission pipeline operators across Australia.
Paul has been a long time voluntary contributor to Materials Australia, he is currently a Director and member of the National Executive Committee. He has chaired the MA National Committee for Technical Training and has chaired a technical panel of the Welding Technology Institute of Australia.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science (Metallurgy) from the University of Queensland and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
